Buster began his career in filmmaking on May 1, 1999 as a nameless actor in an unknown downtown section of the southern United States. His first film was entitled, Kibble Squabble, inspired by his early days of seemingly endless food brawls. “It was truly a collaborative disaster resulting from too many pups, but nevertheless, a valuable learning experience”, he reminisces. His second film was entitled, Toward the Pound but was never released. When asked, he refused to discuss the film. Some still speculate that he does this to create an aura of mystery about him.
In the summer of 1999, His former agent cancelled his contract and sent him away to the Atlanta Humane Society where he was promptly assigned a new agent and given a new stage name: Moby. Despite all good itentions, within 2 days the new agent went bankrupt and returned Moby to Atlanta Humane. As luck would have it, on July 11, 1999, the perfect agent came along, changed Moby's stage name to Buster and helped propel him to a new career. No resume or head shots were needed but it was a rough start and much training and hard work followed Buster's initial “honeymoon phase” with his new agent. “I was just in a ...bad place”, he said reluctantly. “I had been living rough, was flat broke and to top it off, really sick. My agent really got me out of the gutter and took care of me. I'm lucky to have her. ” After six years, the long struggle has clearly paid off.
Although relatively still unknown to some in the field, Buster's career spans six years and has touched the lives of many moviegoers. He is one of the most prolific, versatile dog filmmakers involving himself first as an actor, then as a director and producer. Buster-Unleashed represents his first attempt in portraying the struggle between the heart and mind. “It has been a difficult but rewarding departure for me to touch on this theme given my past disdain for affairs of the heart. I believe though that it has been a tremendous growing experience not only as a filmmaker, but also as an actor".
"In this film I try to give a sense of character and story through the use of cinematic language such as whining and yipping. The use of these elements is often thoroughly researched prior to making a film. I also bring to my work a conviction that cinema should have a social basis. In recent times I have rediscovered my passion for cinema as a vehicle for social action for all canine-kind."
